LOVE IS NOT PROUD!

Yesterday we had a great time coming together with family. We all believe Uncle Earl is in a better place now, so we know he would have taken joy in seeing how happy we all were to be together again. We spent most of the day hanging out with little cousin, Michael, who happens to be a professional football player. He is one of the most humble, generous, and compassionate people I have ever known. Because of the humility he wears on his shoulders, you would never know he is a professional athlete and just how successful he has become at such a young age (minus the fact that he is nearly seven feet tall, haha). He is a perfect example of how we should manage our pride. He never lets his pride get in the way, never forgets where he came from, never forgets those who helped him get where he is, and is constantly giving back to others.

In the society we live in today, it is so easy to be consumed with a self-centered way of thinking. We get so caught up in the idea of trying to "be somebody," that we leave behind the people who helped us "make it," and forget how important it is for us to do for others. Practice humility every chance you get. No matter how successful you become, remember to always be humble in your accomplishments, and use your advancements and acknowledgements to provide opportunities for someone else.

I visited the Redeemer website this morning and read the words, "Love and Pride are like oil and water; THEY DON'T MIX!" This statement has more than proven to be true. You absolutely cannot show true love when you're constantly being prideful. Prideful people never admit when they are wrong, never willingly apologize, and are constantly using and stepping over people to get where they need to be. Don't be like that. Don't let pride pull you apart from the people you love most. Appreciate the blessings God has bestowed upon you, appreciate where you are in life, appreciate the person you are, and know you are loved and can love others in return. Don't let pride ruin your relationships, but let humility take them to new places and soar to new heights. You can do it!

Check in tomorrow for day six of the love challenge!!
